At Rowan Woodwork, we apply a unique combination of traditional and modern woodworking techniques to every project. Sleek, contemporary, and compelling, our work is a conversation starter built to last a lifetime (or two).
Our Process
1. Discovery
Before we get the project off the ground, it’s important to establish your vision. Together we will gather inspiration, discuss materials and finishes, check out details, and lay the groundwork for function and utility. The goal of our discovery phase is to learn about you, your lifestyle, your needs, and your dreams for your space. This is when we become friends!
2. Design
Next up: conceptual drawing and development. We will gather site dimensions, prepare renderings, and schedule a design review meeting. We’ll create finish and detail samples to decide what works and what doesn't. Then we’ll create a final working set of shop drawings so that our team of talented craftspeople have everything they need to get started .
3. Build
With approved shop drawings in hand, we go into production and let the sawdust fly. Your entire project will be set up in our staging area. Floor units are set, wall units are hung. Doors and drawers are fitted to openings and hinged in place. All drawers and specialty interiors are installed and tested. You are always welcome to visit us in the shop and check out your project as it is being created .
4. Install
Once the dust has settled we’ll contact you to confirm that the site conditions are met. Once the windows, sheetrock, and floors are complete, and the project has a balanced climate, we’ll bring the truck around. The same hands that cut each piece of wood on your project will then pack, unload, and install your pieces. Our team will treat your home with dignity and respect, leaving it more beautiful than when we arrived.

Material
Hardwoods, plywoods, composites, metals, eco-friendly — you name it, we work with it! We’ll make your dream project out of your dream material. And we do our very best to source it all locally here in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Finish
We converted an automotive spray booth at our shop into a do-it-all finishing laboratory. Hardwoods and veneered plywoods often get a dead flat or satin clear coat, while other materials can be finished any color you can imagine.
Details
We really care about the details. Our team’s aesthetic considerations will ensure your piece matches a traditional, contemporary, or period style. From the function and utility of things like drawer & door pulls to specialty hardware, we’ll personalize each element with you.
