Cabinetmaker

Ability Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of professional cabinet shop and installation experience
Must own a suite of personal cabinet-making tools
Must have a safe working knowledge of shop machinery such as jointers, routers, sliding table saws, panel saws, etc
Must know your basic woodworking-related math
Must be willing to adhere to Rowan Woodwork’s best-known methods of fabrication
Must be able to produce finished product from shop drawings. This includes, but is not limited to: creating material & hardware take-offs, generating cultists, breaking down grain-sequenced sheet goods, milling hardwoods, joinery, sanding, etc
Must be able to install millwork on location
Must be willing to travel and lodge with the team for extended periods when installing projects out of the region
BONUS: Finishing skills
Must have excellent references
Must have reliable transportation and live within commuting distance to the shop
1 day Trial
The applicant will be asked to fabricate a shaker door from rough-sawn maple.
The trial will be casually supervised. The pass/fail threshold is not solely based on technical ability but also on the candidate’s willingness to ask questions, troubleshoot problems and work safely.
Draftsperson

This is NOT a remote work position, but remote work is a possibility for the right candidate
On-the-job training
Ability Requirements
Minimum of 2 years experience working as a full-time draftsperson at a production cabinet shop
Must be fluent in Rhino 8, Autocad (or similar 2d software) & Adobe
We are starting to explore ‘design to manufacture’ software like Cabinet Vision or Mosaik .. so experience in one of these would be AMAZING !!
BONUS: Holtzer Evolution 7405 vertical CNC experience. Experience with CAM software and plugins for CNC milling such as RhinoCAM
Must be Fluent in Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail
Must have a relevant portfolio of professional work to show
Must have excellent written communication skills
Must have some sort of background in woodworking, building construction, engineering or fabrication. Professional experience preferred but not required.

1 day Trial
The applicant will be invited to spend a day with our ‘design lead’ to demonstrate their ability / competence drafting. The trial will be casually supervised. The pass/fail threshold is not solely based on technical ability but also on the candidate’s willingness to ask questions, ability to troubleshoot problems, the speed at which they learn and implement a new skill, etc. etc.
Jr. Apprentice

1 day Trial
The trail day for the apprentice is only about getting to know you a little better. If you have skills you want to demonstrate, please do. We will show you around the shop and give you a few tasks to complete. We are mostly interested in witnessing your good attitude and enthusiasm!
Sr. Apprentice

1 day Trial
The applicant will be asked to fabricate a shaker door out of MDF.
The trial will be casually supervised. This is not a pass/fail test - it is solely intended for us to gauge the applicants abilities are and how they will fit into our team . We will be observing not only technical ability but also willingness to ask questions, troubleshoot problems, and work safely as part of a team.
Finisher

On the job training
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of professional wood finishing experience
Must have a safe working knowledge of spray booth operation, spray guns, pumps, PPE and other related equipment
Proficiency with high quality wood or metal finishing : 2k lacquers, European Urethanes, dye stains and glazes and reactive finishes.
Color matching and custom formulation experience with a variety of finishes
High level organizational and critical thinking skills
Willingness to work under pressure and go the extra mile
Experience in bench carpentry , cabinetmaking or furniture making is beneficial
Must have excellent references
Must have reliable transportation and live within commuting distance to the shop
1 day Trial
The applicant will be asked to mix a solvent based colored lacquer and apply it to a piece of MDF using the spray equipment and booth. PPE will be provided to you.
