Help for Ukraine

Help for Ukraine

The Russian military invasion of Ukraine is a brutal conflict weighing heavily on the global conscience. The subsequent ongoing war is changing by the day, and horrific stories of war crimes show the dire need for support and aid.

Our close friend, Karolina Hart of Kingston, NY, has been tirelessly organizing the purchasing of food, clothing, and medical supplies for women and children who have been forced to flee to her home country of Poland. Her mom and dad are on the ground in Karpacz, the town in which they live, and the neighboring town of Jelenia Gora. The purchase and delivery of supplies have been made possible by the generous donations to their GoFundMe.

Karolina has been providing weekly updates to verify this work, sharing stories and pictures of the aid being provided as a direct result of the campaign's proceeds. We want to share this past week's update and ask that you consider joining us in supporting this critical effort as the war continues.

“Hello all,

This week’s email comes later, it took me some time to process the horrific war crimes discovered in the city of Bucha. All civilians who were killed did not stand a chance, the ones who survived will be scared forever. Stories of people hiding in basements for weeks, women giving birth in silence and 10 year old girls being raped are just too painful to handle.

When my grandma was 9 years old she served soldiers during WWII while they stayed at her family’s farm. Till nowadays she tells me stories about the war and I always ask her how bad it was and if she was scared and she always says that it was better to serve Germans than to get into the hands of Russians. They were brutal, they tortured and they had no mercy. Seeing this week’s news made me understand my grandma’s stories better. It is awful that history repeats itself.

Poland has accepted 2.5 million Ukrainians so far, that means the population in Poland increased by 6.5% within one month. You can only imagine how difficult it is for local governments and ordinary people to accommodate such a large number of people. The food deliveries my parents provide are getting larger and more frequent, yet people are getting less and less. 4 eggs per family I was told, that all they can get in order for everyone to get something.

We purchased one more medical equipment, which was the last large purchase we had made. There were several kits needed, we sponsored one, the equipment is called Renasys ad it helps to heal wounds. Below are pictures and a YouTube link if anyone is interested to see how it works.

I am going to Poland on Wednesday and I will go to all the places we have been donating food and medications to. I will be able to send you more pictures and first hand report what is happening there, what the needs are and if there is anything else that can be done.

Please forward the link to anyone who can help. I am grateful for your unimaginable support and help.

Thank you,

Karolina”
